BARKING

Barking is a big part of may different case types. Many clients come in only wanting to resolve barking but generally we find it is part of a bigger picture. Barking is a symptom of dogs that are dealing with:

• Generalized Anxiety/ Fear

• Separation Anxiety

• Reactivity

• Over Arousal

Diagnosing your dogs barking can be tricky, as it can be a combination of issues behind it. The genetics of the breed also play a role in how vocal a dog is- German Shepherds, Miniature Poodles, Cattle Dogs, Huskies and Hounds are all breeds that are prone to vocalize in response to things in their environment more frequently. Resolving barking often is a multi pronged approach of addressing the underlying behavioral issue, teaching alternate behaviors for the dog to choose, and finallly eliminating remaining barking with a consequence.
