GENERALIZED ANXIETY

Dogs struggling with Generalized Anxiety are often very difficult to soothe. Their fears can be very widespread and they have a hard time accepting new situations. Dogs with Generalized Anxiety dogs often:

• Stress Pant • Pace • Are Afraid of Novel Situations and Objects • Have trouble settling in new Environments •

Watching your dog live in fear can be heartbreaking, and it’s frustrating when we cannot convey to them things are okay. Certain breeds are more prone to anxiety, as are dogs who missed out on their socialization window when they were young. We see this often in dogs adopted during the Covid Pandemic who grew up in lockdown and failed to get exposure to the world around them until an older age. When puppies are young their brain is very plastic and they can readily accept new things. Adult dogs can still learn to accept novel situations and learn to regulate their emotions but the process is more complicated. We can help you show your dog the world is okay, coaching you when to push your fearful dog, and when to give them time to recover for the best longterm result.
